For who are those supports?
Many off-road enthusiasts bought Amazon or Aliexpress, Vevor, Campnetic Recovery Boards, and then found no way to hold them magnetically, except to screw them to the magnets. 4 thick transparent stickers for extra safety are also supplied.
Why the quick release mechanism?
Screwing the supports it’s fine, but exactly what you don’t want to do when you are stuck in sand in the desert under the sun and you just want to get your recovery boards and get unstuck ASAP because you start to panic.
Is this upgradable case I want to purchase Max Trax in the future?
Absolutely, in a hidden page of our website, that we give access to customers who already purchased from us, to get repair parts at convenient price, we offer the Max Trax plastic part, so that you just interchange them with those. The upgrade part cost 28 CHF, so if down the line you discover that you like off-roading a lot, and purchase Max Trax or ARB recovery boards, you will always be able to upgrade without having to repurchasing the whole supports.
But why no one is offering quick release pins for those kind of recovery boards then?
Very difficult to to manufacture a cylinder which such thin walls that won’t break, you cannot cnc it in aluminum because inside the cylinder there must be a cut out to allow the spheres of the quick release pins to expand, so that they lock in place.
You cannot inject mold them, or yes, you could, but it would be such a complicated mold that it would cost, hundreds of thousands of dollars.
You can 3d print it with high end 3d printers, for each machine we pay, only in maintenance 6000 $ per year, per machine, yes only in maintenance, but at least, this way, we can offer you products that no one has the courage to design. To have a solid product, we use the same kind of
Compatibility
This product is compatible with the recovery boards, object of the picture, those are sold under many different names, but likely come from the same Chinese factory, if you are not sure, they are compatible, measure the holes, the 4 center holes, they must be just a bit larger than 17 millimeters (0.67 inches).
While the magnets, it’s important to remember it, do not work with aluminum bodies of vehicles, i.e. Land Rovers.
There’s one design compromise to be aware of when purchasing those supports: the black “handle” around the button of the quick release, fits tightly inside the recovery board, not that it’s hard to insert because the handle is touch the recovery board, but more like you don’t have much space for your fingers to move, around anymore.
We do not encourage you to purchase no name recovery boards, we encourage you to purchase Max Trax and TRED recovery boards, those guys are the originals and invested their time and money into research and development, they offer longer lasting products, it’s therefore more ethical to pay them and not copycats.
Longer lasting products are more ecological, which, with the amount we pollute with our traveling with vans and 4×4 is also something to consider to balance.
